Chicago Native Henry Threadgill was named the 2016 recipient of the Pulitzer Prize in Music for his composition “In for a Penny, in for a Pound.” The recording was released in May 2015. The Prize’s administration noted that Threadgill’s piece was chosen because it isĀ “a highly original work in which notated music and improvisation mesh in a sonic tapestry that seems the very expression of modern American life (Pi Recordings).” For more information about other nominees and winners, visit the Pulitzer Prize’s website.
