Join us on Valentine’s Day for this live broadcast as the Metropolitan Opera presents Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle starring Anna Netrebko as Iolanta, Piotr Beczala as Count Tristan, Mikhail Petrenko as Bluebeard and Nadja Michael as Judith. Valery Gergiev conducts the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus.

From the Met’s website: “On the heels of her triumphant Met performances as Titania in Eugene Onegin, Anna Netrebko takes on another Tchaikovsky heroine in a new production of the enchanting fairy tale Iolanta. Anna stars as the beautiful blind girl who experiences love for the first time, opposite Piotr Beczala in the role of Count Christian Vaudemont. The cast also includes Ilya Bannik as Iolanta’s father René and Aleksei Markov as Robert, King of Provence.

Iolanta is the first opera of an intriguing double bill that also includes Bartok’s psychological thriller Bluebeard’s Castle. Both operas were directed by Mariusz Trelinski, who was inspired by classic noir films of the 1940s.”
