“It’s bad enough in life to do without something YOU want; but confound it, what gets my goat is not being able to give somebody something you want THEM to have.”

―Truman Capote, A Christmas Memory

Hear Truman Capote narrate his own short story, A Christmas Memory, published originally in Mademoiselle Magazine in 1956. In it, the author tells a largely autobiographical tale (or memory) of being seven years old in rural America at Christmastime.

How sad that this wonderful story read by the author has been relegated to late night, when many of us are asleep! Perhaps you could offer a c.d. of Mr. Capote reading as a fall membership premium. I listened to this wonderful reading, as well as A Child’s Christmas in Whales during our children’s childhood. Wonderful to hear these treasures read out loud.
Thank you. Your station sustains me.
