Live Broadcast, Tuesday at 5:45 pm

There will be cross-pollination at Tuesday’s Rush Hour concert. Players from three of Chicago’s most acclaimed ensembles will sit down together to play a piece by Ernst von Dohnányi. Grant Park Orchestra’s Principal Second Violin Liba Schacht, Lyric Opera Orchestra Principal Viola Carol Cook, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra Principal Cello John Sharp are the featured artists.

The Grant Park Orchestra has long been a summer occupation for players in the Lyric Opera Orchestra. Violinist Liba Schacht plays in both ensembles.

Lyric violist Carol Cook celebrates her first Independence Day as an American citizen this week. The Scotland native was sworn in last July. She played the Star-Spangled Banner at her own swearing-in ceremony (see video below).

John Sharp has played principal cello for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since the 1986-1987 season when Sir Georg Solti awarded him the position.

More on Carol Cook becoming a U.S. citizen.
