In the very first year of Exploring Music, the production team set out to make five programs on the life and music of Hector Berlioz. Though many fine performances were available, Bill McGlaughlin insisted on using the recording of Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique conducted by Sir Colin Davis. Bill and many others have long thought Davis, who died in April of 2013, was the greatest Berlioz conductor.
Hear that landmark recording on Monday afternoon at 2:00 PM on WFMT with Sir Colin Davis and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
