Pete Seeger in 2007

WFMT and music lovers around the world are grieving the loss of an American icon; folk singer, songwriter, social activist Pete Seeger. Pete Seeger has been a friend and inspiration to WFMT from the station’s earliest days. He co-wrote “If I Had a Hammer,” “Where Have All the Flowers Gone,” and “Turn, Turn, Turn.” He himself was an active folklorist, popularizing the old spiritual “We Shall Overcome.”

Check back at WFMT.com as we remember this extraordinary life. Coming soon, conversations between Pete Seeger and Studs Terkel, and a remembrance by Rich Warren.

Thank you for so many remembrances of Pete Seeger. Please think again making these celebrations onto podcasts so we can listen again (and again).
