Mozart Monday on WFMT

Mozart Cake

WFMT celebrates Mozart’s birthday with…what else? Mozart.

Born January 27, 1756, Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart became one of the greatest composers ever to live. It would be difficult for anyone to copy down every note he wrote in thirty-six years, even without the extraordinary task of crafting such miraculous music. It’s impossible for WFMT to play it all in one day (his catalog fills about 170 CDs), but we can offer a day of nothing but Mozart. It’s true, many composers would not be well-served by a day’s worth of listening—not so with Mozart. He penned dozens each of symphonies, piano concertos, violin sonatas, string quartets. There are nearly two dozen operas; he wrote dance collections, masses, oratorios, divertimenti, not to mention brilliant violin concerti, wind concerti etc.

Join WFMT on Monday, January 27 for marvelous Mozart merriment beginning at 6:00 AM and lasting all the way until 7:00 PM.
