I vespri siciliani, Tuesday at 8:00 PM
WFMT has been serving up a delicious series of operas by Giuseppe Verdi since the first of the year. His 200th birthday is fast approaching on October 10th, and commemorations abound.
In the next couple weeks, Chicagoans can hear three Verdi operas live: Joan of Arc by Chicago Opera Theater, Macbeth by Riccardo Muti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; and Otello, the opening production at Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Add to that the next installment in WFMT’s year-long broadcast of all the Verdi operas: I vespri siciliani airs Tuesday at 8:00 PM, a recording of Riccardo Muti at La Scala with Cheryl Studer, Ferruccio Furlanetto and others.
