Composer John Corigliano LIVE on WFMT

John Corigliano

Hear John Corigliano on Thursday, April 25 at 3:00 PM

For his first couple decades, John Corigliano, Jr. was known as the concertmaster’s kid. While the New York Philharmonic played for a nation, the younger John padded around backstage. When he landed a production job with Leonard Bernstein’s telecasts, John Corigliano, Sr. must have felt that his son had made good–except the younger John hadn’t even begun. Today John Corigliano, son of the concertmaster, is one of America’s preeminent composers; a Pulitzer Prize-winner, Academy Award-winner, celebrated opera composer, and teacher to some of America’s most gifted younger composers.

For a little primer on growing up in the Corigliano household, listen to this excerpt from a conversation with WFMT’s Seth Boustead.
