Every two years, the most astonishing crop of musicians passes through the quiet town of Kalamazoo, Michigan. It’s not that these players don’t come here to Chicago as well (they do), it’s that they’re all converging within a two-week period, and having a great dialogue about keyboard instruments. The line-up of players and compositions would make any music capital envious.
For just a little tease, here’s Emanuel Ax speaking about his offering, a set of piano variations by Haydn, and the composer who wrote it.
