“No matter what she performs, Ms. Allyson is one of the most grounded singers working today.”
–The New York Times
When Karrin Allyson comes to Chicago, count on finding a cadre from WFMT in the audience. She’s a longtime collaborator with Bill McGlaughlin. But aside from that, there’s something incredibly satisfying about a Karrin Allyson show. Musicality seems as natural to her as air. Taking the stage like a ball of fire, she folds any given moment into her musical landscape with almost shocking speed, a testament to the mind behind the smokey voice.
Alas, Chicago will have to wait until May (May 11-12 at the Green Mill) to catch Karrin live, however, you can plan your Friday evening around her broadcast on Jazz at Lincoln Center. She’s joined by Sachal Vasandani and Carla Cook. The show starts at 11:00 PM.
