He’s back. Check out Maxim Vengerov on The New Releases, Sundays at 10:00 AM with Lisa Flynn.
When one of the world’s great violinists took an extended break from the concert stage due to mental and physical exhaustion, and a shoulder injury, his fans wondered if they would ever hear his rare artistry again. But Maxim Vengerov never doubted that he would be back before the public. During the years away, he found a renewed passion for the violin and developed a new skill – conducting. In April 2012, Vengerov returned to the world stage with a triumphant recital at London’s Wigmore Hall, where he was joined by his longtime musical partner, pianist Itamar Golan. Now, that performance has been released on the hall’s own label, and Vengerov’s comeback continues. The Ravinia Festival recently announced that this summer he will return to the festival for the first time since 1995 to perform Britten’s Violin Concerto.
Last week, Vengerov spoke with Lisa Flynn. Hear the complete interview and learn more about his new recording.
