It doesn’t take much imagination for Giuseppe Filianoti to become the womanizing Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto–at least not for a member of the audience. From the opening “Questo o quella,” Filianoti’s silky, lyric tenor sets into motion the drama that consumes the tragic jester and his delicate Gilda.
Opening night of Lyric Opera of Chicago’s production of Rigoletto is Monday, February 25th. WFMT’s Live broadcast starts at 7:15 PM. Rigoletto runs through March at the Civic Opera House.
