This week Bill digs into a treasure trove of music; starting in Africa and tracing an explosion of musical styles from colonial America to the present day.

Some of the musical heroes include Duke Ellington, Henry Burleigh, who guided Dvorak to the spiritual, Marian Anderson, Paul Robeson, Scott Joplin, Eartha Kitt, Florence Price, William Grant Still, James Brown, Louis Armstrong, W.C. Handy, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Leontyne Price, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker and Michael Jackson.
