Il Violino Boemo
Supraphon SU 4151-2
Jiránek: Violin Sonata in F major (8:28)
Lenka Torgersen, violin; Václav Luks, harpsichord; Libor Mašek, cello
The title of this recording paraphrases the nickname “Il divino Boemo (The Divine Bohemian),” used in connection with Josef Mysliveček in Italy. A number of composers who spent time in Prague in the 18th century gained fame as violinists or for their works for the violin. Five composers from this period are represented on this disc, including three who only gained recognition and fame within the borders of their homeland.
