        Thank You for airing Laura Downs’ recording of the Goldberg variations just now. I really enjoyed it! I think my favorite was, I believe, the first variation after the opening aria: the very staccato, sort of pointillist, composition.

        I’d love to hear it again.

        Thanks for Your program and Your other work on WFTM, which I’ve enjoyed for years.

        WFMT is high on the short list of what’s the very best in Chicago.

        Once again I caught only the very end of an interesting broadcast. I had meant to order the sheet music for “13 Ways of Looking at the Goldberg” several years ago, but forgot. It sounded interesting. Just last week ordered other sheet music, too. It usually happens that way. I re-played the original variations over the weekend, except for the difficult ones near the end — they’re beyond my ability. Serendipity has led to finding some of my favorite pieces. Listening to WFMT (and the other defunct classical music stations) has been the major part of my music education.
