In remembrance of the talented young local pianist and Introductions guest Mimi Liu, who passed away suddenly yesterday in Champaign-Urbana, WFMT will re-air one of her performances on Music with Suzanne Nance after 4:00 pm today. Mimi performed several times as both a soloist and an ensemble member on Introductions.

I am very sorry to hear that beloved Mimi Liu passed away suddenly. She is one of the best student I have taught. She is always nice to others and study well. My heart goes to her parents Mr and Mrs liu. Hope she finds peace in heaven.

  2. Titus Ghica says:

It is so sad! My daughter, Julia Ghica, who studies at Yale, played with Mimi Liu in Merit School of Music. They were good friends and she can’t believe it happened! She cried on phone yesterday. I, myself, pray for the Liu’s parents. I’m a parent and my heart feels the pain. It is so sad!

In Loving Memory of Mimi Liu:

Mimi, Ari, James, and I played in a quartet for CFAS together on Introductions. I always thought Mimi was the kindest, most thoughtful person I had ever met. I had the most amazing time playing in the quartet together as well as being her friend. I looked up to Mimi as a role model and continue to. Mimi, you will always be a beautiful piano player, friend, and the big sister I never had; I will always remember you.
