Today we bring you highlights from a concert given by the CYSO’s Encore Chamber Orchestra in March in the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium at the Harold Washington Library.

“CYSO” has become an umbrella term for an organization that not only offers several orchestra programs (including the namesake and most advanced “Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra”), but chamber ensembles and an orchestra, too. On this program we’ll hear the chamber orchestra in music by local composer Brian Baxter, part of the percussion concerto by Joseph Schwantner performed by CYSO concerto competition winner Isaac Stevenson and the Symphony No. 1 by Samuel Barber.
