Tim He, a saxophonist from the Chicago area, was one of the first students to attend ChiArts, the new Chicago High School for the Arts and took early admission to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Tianyao (Tim) He, 17, is a sophomore at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign pursuing a BM in saxophone performance. He has been playing the saxophone for nine years and clarinet for three. Tim was a finalist for the 2010 Crain-Maling Chicago Symphony Orchestra Youth Auditions and a category winner of the 2010 Walgreens Concerto Competition. He was also an active member of Midwest Young Artist playing in the symphony orchestra as well as being involved in the chamber programs.
Currently he studies with Professor Debra Richtmeyer at UIUC and his past primary teachers include Jeremy Ruthrauff, Shawn Tracy, and Dileep Gangolli. He has also taken lessons with Eugene Rousseau, members of the Habanera Sax Quartet, Ken Radnofsky and masterclasses with Otis Murphy and Kenneth Tse.
