Grammy-nominated composer Christopher Theofanidis’s “Northern Lights” will receive its world-premiere performance August 8-9 with the Grant Park Orchestra conducted by Carlos Kalmar at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago’s Millenium Park, in a concert which will include a performance of Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 2. Theofanidis’s work, inspired by a children’s story about the origins of the aurora borealis, will be performed to projected images by Dr. Jose Francisco Salgado. WFMT’s Lisa Flynn has the story in this week’s Arts Feature.
